    48 & 52 mti...

Because I'm bored to death with the 55 MTI thread
So, as many of you may I am building a new 48 MTI, so let's see some pics and hear some stories about riding in these boats. No Darr bashing please, there is already a thread for that, and Wiggie: no outrageous unsubstantiated claims either!

The specs on the new boat are: Carbon lay up (1000lbs lighter than standard), tilt trailer, new design deck and cockpit (no pics, the first one is supposed to be at Miami for the show, more on that after the show), Visual Imagination paint, and so far 1350 Merc's and #8 drives.
The boats being built with weight savings (therefore speed) in mind. No TV screens, huge stereos, etc. Just lean and mean. (might a good name!)
Speaking of names, feel free to suggest something, High Steaks II just isn't that cool.

I will post pics of the renderings as soon as Miami starts.

I've heard nothing but great things about them from the guys who own them. Considered one for a bit before committing to the 388.

If I may ask, what spurred u to sell the skater for the mti?

    Good question.
Several reasons, but I have owned a Cigarette, a DCB, a Skater, and now a MTI. I guess I like to see for myself which I like best! I like the ride and handling of the MTI, the fact Randy will build whatever I want (not what he wants), and they are close to LOTO so updates and warranty work will not involve a long haul.
Add to that the fact that Randy is at the lake a lot of weekends and all of the big events, and the customer care part of the equation is a no brainer.
I think you could take Skater, MTI, and Mystic and not go wrong with any of them.

    "Where's the beef?"

"Mooove Over" Not very good but makes me laugh, especially if your daughter plays softball "Holy cow it's a foul, moooove it over, mooove it over" I can't get that damn cheer out of my head.

"Slaughter House" I think Tim G. gets credit for this.

"Prime (insert something cool here) "

I can't wait to see it. I'm sick my niece is getting married on DS weekend. I could have been hangin out with my new BFF and his brand new bad a$$ 48 MTI, but instead I'll be doing the fn' chicken dance, YMCA, and electric slide. Ughhhhh.

Not really. I have driven Bull's 48, it had 1650's and shaft drives...awesome handling boat! The Phantom boat isna 1350/#8 boat. The bottoms would be the same, I think Phantom is standard lay up, I would guess Bull's is carbon, but I am not positive on that one.

Congratulations! The 48's are really great boats. I have ran a couple of them. One with 1350 Mercury motors and the other with big Sterlings. Larry Goldman from Xteme Powerboats recently sold a 52 and a 48, (along with some more 42 centers) Both of the new cats are expected to be at the Miami Boat show. Of course everyone knows the 48 is for his old buddy and will have Mercury Power as will the new 52.

We would love to follow the build progression with you, through you. I also really like the idea you are keeping it simple and a little stripped down.

Rainmaker how much is your stereo going to weigh on your exotic laminate schedule 388 SKATER???

I dont see any weights on the sites, i know the 48 has a 44' running surface, does the 52 have a 48' surface?. Are the bottom and notch placements the same? What are the performance differences with the same power?

Thanks! I plan on posting lots of pics as they become available. Right now it's just a big chunk of not very attractive fiberglass and carbon. I have seen a more complete new style 48 and it's awesome! Look for it at Miami, it will be hard to miss as it's bright yellow.
Although the boat will have a stereo (and A/C), neither will weigh much. I can say it will be an 8 seat cockpit though.

Cattle feeding/ranching/packing house business. Interesting fact, my company produces the equivalent of roughly 100 million big macs per year!
