Striving to constantly rethink the way powerboats and their components interface in order to greatly improve reliability, MDC found through rigorous testing that flanged output shafts used in driveline setups with a Bravo drive are a considerable weak link.
While anyone can spend time and money make improvements and upgrades to drives, the increase in power and torque lends itself vulnerable to the weakest link in the chain, the output shaft.
MDC has designed and produced a limited number of high strength, ultra reliable shafts that allow anyone to operate at optimal power output without limitations or fear of over stressing the shafts. The shafts are made in the USA from heat treated 4340 Chromoly and are rated for 1,500+ ft-lbs of torque, which makes them the strongest on the market to date.
As Marine Design Corporation states, they are a direct replacement for the Mercury shaft and will work with the stock rubber coupler or preferably a DriveGuardian for the best reliability.
