Mercury Racing Welcomes Two New Members to the Team

Andrea Jansen (inset) is Mercury Racing’s new Brand Manager; Nick Petersen (driving his HydroStream) is the company’s Propeller Specialist and Project Manager.
Mercury Racing recently welcomed two new members to its Fond du Lac, WI-based operations.
An avid boater who just happens to be married to a boat mechanic, Andrea Jansen started working for Mercury Marine seven years ago and came on board the Mercury Racing division over the summer. As Brand Manager, Jansen will oversee the entire marketing operations of the Racing business and managing the marketing operations, while Rick Mackie takes on an expanded role in communications and pubic relations. While her role is multi-faceted, Jansen’s primary responsibility will be engineering the consumer’s total brand experience for all Mercury Racing product prior to, during, and post-purchase, with a very strong emphasis on digital marketing.
“The cool thing about this job is that it’s a brand-new role for Mercury Racing—they’ve never had a Brand Manager before,” Jansen says. “It expands the marketing department, which was previously just Rick. I will handle branding and the back-end of our digital specializations.”
Andrea has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Also joining the Mercury Racing team is Nick Petersen as Propeller Specialist and Project Manager. He will be assisting Scott Reichow in daily operations in the Propeller Department, helping customers with setup issues and the like, as well as aiding Steve Miller’s sales and marketing team in managing various projects.
Petersen comes from a drag-racing background; his father is a veteran stock outboard racer, and Nick has been racing Hydrostreams for years—he currently owns his sixth Hydrostream, and has restored three of them. “When I was in my sophomore year of college, I was searching for the ideal internship, and was given an opportunity at Mercury,” he says. After completing an internship for Reichow for the past two summers, he was offered a full-time gig, which officially starts this week.
Powerboat Nation wishes the best of luck to Andrea and Nick!
