Two thousand and eighteen will be another year of new product innovations, and one of those companies making waves in the marine industry is Max Papis with his steering wheel product line from MPI. Seeing a void in quality steering technology in the marine industry, Papis is setting out to bridge the gap. Papis points out that he see’s the fact that the marine industry appreciates quality in their steering wheel choices and that he believes no one can build a finer product than MPI.

The fact of the matter Papis himself is not only the owner of the company, but has been instrumental in bringing new, higher quality steering wheel offerings to just about every other facet motorsports. Max Papis himself has a long background in racing as a professional race car driver, and he has raced in Formula 1, Champ Cars, Indy Cars, IMSA, Grand-Am, IROC, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, being the European driver with most NASCAR starts in history. If there ever was a person that knew how a steering wheel should feel when used in the most aggressive of applications, it’s Papis.

But truth be told its his pride and passion, and the mentorship that came from the founder of racing equipment manufacturer MOMO’s own Gianpiero Moretti that have inspired Papis. Moretti’s legacy left an industrial real estate complex in Italy filled with top of the line craftsmen. The complex is designated to serving the needs of the product line created. It is there where Papis was able to tap the generations of skilled labor to build his own exclusive Italian product line of steering wheels.

Papis has looked to the marine industries steering leader Mayfair Performance of the Hardin Marine family of brands for design and color cues to best suit the marine industry. Both Hardin Marine of Florida’s East Coast and CP Performance will handle the US distribution of the MPI steering wheels in 2018.
