On the water in time for the 2025 Boyne Thunder Poker Run last July, the first canopied Outerlimits SC37 catamaran turned heads at the Northern Michigan event. The yellow 37-footer powered by twin Mercury Racing 500R outboard engines is the property of John Tokara, a longtime client for the Bristol, R.I., company.
Now Outerlimits has unveiled its second canopied cat with 500R outboard power. But new the cat slightly different than its yellow sibling.
“This one is dubbed ‘SC39’ because the boat is 38’6” long and the client, who lives overseas, wanted it called SC39,” Dan Kleitz, the general manager of Outerlimits, explained. “The boat is all-carbon fiber and has a Kutting Edge Interior with four-point restraints for all occupants, a carbon composite roll-bar and an escape hatch built into the canopy.”

Other features include a Garmin 9022 GPS unit, dual Mercury Marine VesselView monitors, and JL Audio sound system and Seadek surfacing on the cockpit sole.
Wes Jones designed the boat’s color scheme, which was executed by a painting company in Louisiana. It will ride down the road on a color-matched trailer from CTS Custom Trailers.
“The boat ran 128 mph with 35-inch propellers hard on the limiters,” Kleitz said. “The SC37 does everything right and feels stable at all speeds.”
