Mini March Madness Ahead

All eyes of the performance-boating fan kind will remain on Florida next month. That’s simply because much as we might all wish otherwise, it’s still winter. The Sunshine State is the only one officially open for go-fast boating business, so to speak, next month. So it figures there are organized boating events on three out of four of those weekends.

Fort Myers Offshore has two events on tap next month. Set for March 7, the Spring Break Lunch Run to Three Fishermen Restaurant is relatively standard fare for the Southwest Florida nonprofit scholarship-fundraising powerboat club. But seeing as you cannot spell FOMO these days without FMO, the single-day outing likely will be another record-setter.

Produced by the Florida Powerboat Club, the Naples Spring Rendezvous returns March 20-22. The club reintroduced its Naples affair in 2025, and the 30- to 35-boat event was a hit with club members and their guests. Knowing a good thing when he sees it, club president Stu Jones had decided to keep the Naples affair on this year’s schedule before last year’s event was even in the books.

Already sold out—and in a fraction of the time organizers Tim and Cyndee Hill expected—the Fort Myers Offshore weekend run to Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key is set for March 26-29. It is the first overnight event the club has done in nine years.

“The Florida Keys feels earned,” Tim Hill explained. “A run to Hawks Cay is a challenge and an adventure that speaks directly to performance boating. It also is a great opportunity for potential sponsors to receive extended exposure across multiple days, locations, and touch-points in a casual laidback setting.

“I feel multi-day runs like this build deeper connections, deliver greater value to members and sponsors and reinforce our mission of performance boating with a purpose,” he added.

March is just around the corner. Buckle up.
