But I’m not talking about the current weather. Southwest Florida has become a late-fall-through-early spring hub of activity in the go-fast boating world, so much so that earlier today the Fort Myers Offshore group announced the most extensive event-schedule in its 20-plus-year history.
So much so that last month high-performance marine industry notable Tim Gallagher opened a full-service MTI dealership dubbed Straight Arrow Marine in Fort Myers.
So much so that Angle of Attack Marine plans to open a location in the area and get deeply involved in supporting Fort Myers Offshore events.
So much so that sponsors including Concept Boats, Deep Impact Custom Boats, DWR/Doug Wright Powerboats, Manatee Marine Unlimited, Performance Boat Center and Platinum Powerboats backed FMO happenings—most for the first time—during the 2025 and 2026 season.
And last but far from least, so much so than Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats has backed the club for years.
As a go-fast boating destination, Southwest Florida gets an undeniable boost from the weather during its annual event-season. It also benefits from hundreds of fine waterfront lunch destinations between Tampa and Marco Island and the protected Intracoastal Waterway when the Gulf gets a little too sporty for comfort.
But the truth is that all roads to the area’s booming popularity lead through Fort Myers Offshore. The club’s leadership has been undeniably forward-thinking and effective. Its members are as gracious as they are generous. Ego-driven Darth Vader-types are blessedly few and far between in the Fort Myers Offshore group.
And that is why Southwest Florida is so damn hot.
