Despite their unusual hull-and-deck lines—at least by United States standards—Axopar’s outboard-engine-equipped day-boats from 22 to 45 have made strong in-roads to the U.S. market since the brand’s domestic introduction at the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. What’s more, they’ve caught the attention of traditional performance-boat owners as “second” rides.
The 38 Cross Top is the latest addition to the Axopar line.
Why? It’s not as if they’re particularly fast or sexy, again at least by U.S. standards, even though they handle well and ride smoothly in rough water.
The answer lies in their versatility and functionality. Built in Poland by the Finland-based company, which was founded in 2014, they are solid utility players in the powerboat world. They do a lot of things well.
To that end, Axopar has added a Cross Top version of its popular 38-footer. The news was announced in a press release from the company this morning
Prior to the introduction the model was offered only open- or enclosed-cockpit versions. The 38 Cross Top is akin to a hybrid of the two. Not unlike a center console, it offers an open-air environment. But when protection from the elements is needed, the model’s removable roll-down “canopies” canopies come into play.
“Our ambition was never simply to design three different models. It was to build one platform capable of serving genuinely different ways of boating, without asking anyone to compromise to get there,” said Jan-Erik Viitala, the brand’s founding partner, in the release. “The Cross Cabin, Sun Top and Cross Top are three distinct ways to experience the water sharing the same Axopar DNA.”
At least by U.S. standards, the 38 Cross Top also is relatively affordable. Equipped with twin 300-hp Mercury Verado outboards, its base price is $229,718. Upgrading to 350-hp Verados raises the base price to $247,104.
