Though Stephen Miles Design has painted high-performance powerboats from the likes of DCB, Fountain, Mystic, Nor-Tech, Phantom, Velocity and more, the Owensboro, Ky., outfit made its reputation dressing V-bottoms and catamarans from Outerlimits. In fact, Miles currently has two completed SL 50 V-bottoms from the Bristol, R.I., company ready to deliver at the shop.
One is a new-build. The other is an existing 50-footer dubbed Crypto, II, which its new owner wanted reimagined.
“The new SL 50 is in shrink wrap and waiting to be shipped back to Outerlimits,” Miles said. “The reborn Crypto, II, is finished and ready to go, but the owner is not in any hurry to get it back to his place in Cleveland because the roads are in bad shape right now.”

And that’s not all Miles is handling on the Outerlimits front.
“We also have Global Warmer back at the shop for some hatch and canopy touch-ups,” Miles explained. “And another new SL 50 should be showing at the shop in the next two to three months.”
But Miles business is anything but Outerlimits-exclusive. In fact, three new Nor-Tech center consoles are slated to arrive at his shop in the near future.
“We have two 390s and one 450 coming,” he said. “And on the MTI side, Matt Jamniczky’s 42-foot MTI center console is here for some touch-up work.
“Business is good,” he added.
