Nothing says MTI like the Lake of the Ozarks—it’s the dominant brand on the Central Missouri waterway and has been for years. And that makes sense given that the lake is home-water for the Wentzville, Mo., high-performance center-console and catamaran builder.

But until last year during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, MTI didn’t have a breakfast run of its own.
“This is only our second one,” said Taylor Scism, the vice-president of the company, who was joined by her husband, Shaun Peters and their 10-month-old daughter, Pearl. “We had 40 boats and 200 people.”
As this week began, 20 boats were signed up for the run from the Scism-family-owned MTI docks to Big Dick’s Halfway Inn. The forecast for yesterday’s weather—and the accurate forecast preceding it—helped expand fleet.
“We had amazing weather in the low 80s,” Scism said, then laughed. “We went from 20 to 40 boats in a couple of days. I was like, ‘We need to order more food.’”
MTI 390X catamaran owner Mikey Boyle, a Fort Myers Offshore member who splits his time between summers in the Northeast and winters in Southwest Florida, was among the participants.
“Last year, they did it on Wednesday,” he said. “This year it was Thursday, and it was awesome. The weather was great.
“What an incredible family of people,” he added.
