Tucked away in the wilds of Mancelona, Mich., Snook’s Quality Collision auto-body-and-paint shop is the property of 42 Fountain Lightning V-bottom owners Justin and Melissa Snook. The charming, gracious couple doesn’t dabble in high-performance boating—they live it.
And their complete devotion shows in their in their pristine 42-footer.
You’d be hard-pressed to find another 16-year-old Fountain in such remarkable shape. Strike that. You’d be hard-pressed to find any boat of similar vintage in such remarkable shape.
Owning a body shop and knowing their way around the painting process certainly helps. But dedication, pride in ownership and a killer worth-ethic help more.

And the Snooks are boat-cleaning fanatics. You don ‘t just want to take off your shoes before you get anywhere near their pride and joy. You want to cut off your feet or at least—in perhaps a less-extreme and more forward-thinking move—wash them.
To help keep things that way, the couple has introduced Snook Sauce, a line of their favorite boat-cleaning products. They range from a heavy-duty degreaser to a quick touch-up detailer to an all-purpose cleaner.
All of the products are produced elsewhere and privately labeled for the Snooks. They have no desire to get into the cleaning-product manufacturing business. To some degree, the products are calling-cards/marketing tools for Snook’s Quality Collision.
The products are available at their Mancelona location. Or they can be shipped to interested buyers.

But all have been tested in the real world by a couple that takes cleaning and detailing seriously, starting with their own immaculate ride.
“We just wanted to be able offer some of the products we use all the time to our customers,” Justin Snook explained. “So we had them labeled Snook Sauce.”
Given the Snooks penchant for aesthetic perfection, that’s about as good as product endorsements get.
