Two Event Videos You Don’t Want To Miss

Of the 30-plus events I covered on scene this year, the Rock The River Cincy Fun Run was among my favorites. But once I’m done writing, photo selection and sizing and back-end content management system work daily publishing demands, I check out. I don’t have time to linger and wax nostalgic. I’m on to the next event and won’t think much about the last one until the video coverage of it goes live.

And if the video doesn’t immediately grab me, I’m gone just as immediately. My time and, OK, patience, are too limited.

So I’m delighted to report that I watched the entire Rock The River Cincinnati Fun Run video this morning—and loved it. Produced by videographer/editor Michael Dyer, the program perfectly captured the essence of the record-setting August event.

I know firsthand because I was there.

As it happened thanks to a schedule conflict, I was nowhere near the Rocky Top Power Run on Lake Norris in Kentucky earlier that month. I was in the Bahamas covering the Florida Powerboat Club—produced inaugural Nor-Tech owners run to the famed island chain. And OK, it wasn’t a tough choice. Not only are the Bahamas the Bahamas, Nor-Tech is a longstanding supporter of speedonthewater.com.

But I have seen an early cut of the Scrapyard Media Rocky Top video, which will drop next week. And based on that video alone, I am going to do everything I can to be there next year.

Video storytelling continues to improve in the go-fast boating event world—this week’s Rock The River production and next week’s Rocky Top documentary provide ample evidence. Both are worth your time.

And that’s not a statement I make lightly.
