One month—that’s all you’ve got left of the summer boating season. That’s the bad news.
The good news? There’s a lot happening in the next 31 days.
Take today, for example. By the time you read this, participants in the fourth annual Sunsation Boats Sun Run in Michigan will be off the pretty waters of Lake St. Clair and ready to party—or at least ready to party again because the brand-celebration’s street party and display happened last night in downtown New Baltimore. And for those who crave more, there’s a healthy Sunsation contingent heading to tomorrow’s massive raft-up in Muscamoot Bay.
Or if you’re a Sunsation owner and an offshore racing fan, you could skip the raft-up and haul your ride to Michigan City, Ind., tomorrow and joined the spectator fleet for the XINSURANCE Great Lakes Grand Prix. There’s racing on both days and Michigan City is a mere 273 miles from St. Clair.
There are couple of happenings on tap next weekend. Starting next Thursday, 18 Nor-Tech center console owners and their lucky guests (this one included) will depart Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for a six-day Bahamas adventure organized and led by the Florida Powerboat Club.
Not quite as glamorous but still looking to be lots of fun—and still open to all powerboat owners—the third year Rocky Top Power Run on Tennessee’s Lake Norris is set for Thursday through Saturday.
Two equally enjoyable yet radically different events are set for the for August 15-16. To the north, you have the Lake Champlain Poker Run in the wilds of Vermont. To the south, you have the Rocky The River Cincy Fun in the wilds of Ohio.
Last but not least there are two concurrent but oh-so–separate happenings in Central Missouri, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Super Cat Fest. The Shootout is loaded with events of its own such as the Wednesday night Shootout On The Strip Street Party presented by Waves And Wheels and the Friday Poly-Lift Boat Lifts Shootout Poker Run ahead of the weekend-long top-speed competition.
Super Cat Fest is far less-structure as organized activities goes. But the high-performance hardware display at its Camden At The Lake Resort host-venue beats that of any boat show.
One month go in the summer of 2025. Use it or lose it. Either way, you don’t lack for event options.
