PBN Exclusive—Stoking The Fire Of The Rocky Top Power Run

Organizer enthusiasm doesn’t guarantee boating-event success. Ambition and attention to detail matter in equal measures.

And improvement takes honest post-mortem. What went well? What could have gone better?

On those counts and more, Matt Rogers of the third annual Rocky Top Power Run set for August 6-8 on Norris Lake in Tennessee is ahead of the curve. The guy has enough energy and focus to light the nearby town of La Follette, the home of his business dubbed Rogers Brothers Marine.

‘Things are going awesome—it gets smoother every year,” Rogers said in recent interview. “We did a huge revamp of the website for ease of registration, added a charity raffle page allowing people to purchase tickets easily. We have TVs all around the lake at participating marinas playing footage from last year and advertising the charity raffle and registration.’

“The marina will be set up super-well and organized,” he continued.

Participant and sponsor registration are still open.

“It’s kind of a ‘Field of Dreams’ situation where we did well for a run in just two years,” Rogers added. “But we really took the fall, winter and spring to reorganize. We spent a lot of time and invested personally to build the website to make registration and communication easier for everyone.

“We have built it,” he concluded, then chuckled. “Now we are just waiting for them to come.”
